Ann Arbor Raptor Rescue Exploring Open House
On September 28 from 6:30-8 p.m. young men and women ages 14-20 are invited to attend an open house hosted by the Ann Arbor Raptor Rescue and an Exploring program which is an offshoot of the Boy Scouts of America. The gathering will be held at the Pittsfield Township Administration building, 6201 W. Michigan Ave., in Saline.
Kelly Houle, STEM and Exploring Executive with the BSA’s Michigan Crossroads Council, said young people who are interested in pursuing careers in veterinary studies, wildlife rehabilitation, animal behavior, biology, environmental studies, or natural resources and conservation will have an opportunity to see what these vocations entail.
“We are hoping that the open house will spark some interest and encourage the participants to sign up to be members of an Explorer post sponsored by Ann Arbor Raptor Rescue,” Houle said. “These posts are designed to give our youth an opportunity to learn about careers they may be interested in. Having this knowledge enables them to be better informed about what they like and don’t like.”
Exploring is a unique career exploration program for young men and women which provides students with an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of career fields and network with professionals already working in those fields.
The Ann Arbor Raptor Rescue is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue of birds of prey with the end goal of returning them to the wild, said Kim Poisson, spokeswoman for the organization.
