Headline Lunch: Personal Property Tax

Do you pay taxes, use services from or interact with state or local government, or own or work for a business? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you should know about the A2Y Chamber's Headline Lunch on Monday, April 28^th (further details below). We have a unique program to educate and inform attendees on Michigan's Personal Property Tax (PPT), how it will be reformed, and the important upcoming August ballot question. 
 
The PPT presents a unique challenge to our state; it's an uncompetitive tax on business and industrial equipment, yet local governments rely on this revenue to fund services.  To meet this challenge the Michigan Legislature recently passed a package of bi-partisan legislation ensuring PPT reform does not cut funding to local governments. Key to this legislative effort was Washtenaw County's own
State Senator Rebekah Warren (D-18). However, these changes will only take effect if voters approve them at the ballot this August, and there is still a lot for business owners and local governments to learn about:

• Learn why such a broad spectrum of stakeholders are in support of this plan;
• What you should know ahead of the August 2014 PPT vote
