If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you should know about the A2Y Chamber's Headline Lunch on Monday, April 28th (further details below). We have a unique program to educate and inform attendees on Michigan's Personal Property Tax (PPT), how it will be reformed, and the important upcoming August ballot question.
The PPT presents a unique challenge to our state; it's an uncompetitive tax on business and industrial equipment, yet local governments rely on this revenue to fund services. To meet this challenge the Michigan Legislature recently passed a package of bi-partisan legislation ensuring PPT reform does not cut funding to local governments. Key to this legislative effort was Washtenaw County's own
State Senator Rebekah Warren (D-18). However, these changes will only take effect if voters approve them at the ballot this August, and there is still a lot for business owners and local governments to learn about:
