Michigan Public Wins Regional Murrow Awards
ANN ARBOR, Mich.— Michigan Public has been recognized with two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in the Large Market Radio category. Edward R. Murrow Awards The station won Edward R. Murrow Regional Awards in the News Documentary and Podcast categories. The Edward R. Murrow Awards are presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) to honor outstanding achievements in electronic journalism. The winning News Documentary entry was “The Bird Connection: Change and decline in our world”
Michigan Public receives AAJA Journalism Excellence Awards
ANN ARBOR, Mich.— Michigan Public has been honored by the AAJA (Asian American Journalists Association) with multiple Journalism Excellence Awards. Zena Issa, Michigan Public’s Criminal Justice reporter won the AAJA 2025 Student Excellence in Audio Storytelling Award for her Stateside podcast segment “What the Vote?: Gen Z and the Uncommitted Movement.” The piece was produced while Zena Issa was an intern at the station. Michigan Public Wins SPJ Excellence in Journalism Awards
ANN ARBOR, Mich.— Michigan Public has been recognized with nine SPJ Excellence in Journalism Awards from the Detroit Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Michigan Public reporters were recognized with seven First Place awards, one Second Place award and one Fourth Place award. Michigan Public Announces New Criminal Justice Reporter
ANN ARBOR, Mich.— Michigan Public’s News Director Vincent Duffy has announced that Zena Issa has joined the NPR affiliate as the station’s Criminal Justice reporter. Zena Issa was previously an intern in the Michigan Public newsroom and has also worked extensively with the Stateside and digital teams on special social media and election projects.
